The task 2.1 ‘Dynamic high-resolution emission modelling’ is closely connected to T1.1 ‘State-of-the-art emission inventories’. This task builds on the inventories prepared in T1.1 and aims to: • Provide emissions for a recent year for which reported data are mostly lacking • Add temporal information The final product is a spatially and temporally explicit emission inventory for CO2 and co-emitted species for each pilot city that can be used in the modelling tasks in WP2. The methods used in the three pilot cities are not always consistent, because the data availability and characteristics of the city sometimes require a different approach. Nevertheless, intensive exchange of information and ideas has taken place, so that the city inventory compilers can learn from each other. Contrary to what the title of this deliverable suggests emissions have been prepared for 2022 instead of 2021. This choice was made to better support the modelling tasks, which make use of intensive observations periods starting in 2022. However, with the development of the methods to estimate emissions for a more recent year it is possible to make updated versions if needed. This deliverable report describes the methods used to estimate recent-year emissions and what the final data looks like. The temporal profiles were described in MS2.10, which is added as Appendix B for reference.
